RSA is an acronym standing for Rivest-Shamir-Adleman algorithm, it is data encryption mechanism. It employs asymmetric cryptography, meaning different keys to encrypt and to decrypt (cipher and decipher). Typically, RSA keys are employed when there are two separate endpoints or when it is necessary that parties can read but cannot encrypt (modify). It is widely use in cryptocurrencies via its used in securing the blockchain (transactions are readible to all but only the key owner can write).
